Olson to perform for benefit Larry Olson of Dakota Road Music will provide the entertainment for the annual benefit dinner for Lutheran Social Services to be held on Sunday, Oct. 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion.
The event begins at 1 p.m. and will conclude by 3:15 p.m. Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling Linda Jensen at the LSS state office at 1-800-568-2401 ext. 136. Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 816 East Clark Street.
Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Olson grew up on a farm and graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in teaching. While at SDSU, Olson began crafting and performing original songs, and in 1988 he co-founded Dakota Road Music, a publishing and performance company that specializes in original music.
Since then Olson has recorded numerous CDs and written and published hundreds of songs that have been passed to the corners of the U.S. and beyond. Olson's music comes alive with stories of his rural roots, ponderings of parenthood and journeys of faith.
The purpose of the dinner is to raise funds to support the services of LSS in southeastern South Dakota. LSS has local offices in Yankton and Vermillion, as well as Woodfield, a residential youth treatment center outside of Beresford.
Tickets to cover the cost of the event are $8.50, and pledges or contributions will be requested to support the LSS services in the area.
