Tanager freshman lose to Beresford Watchdogs by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers were downed by the Beresford Watchdogs 40-21 in girls� basketball Sept. 5 at home.
The Tanagers� Tera Dehner and Nicki Nelson stepped up the intensity.
�Nicki Nelson works hard on both sides of the court,� said VHS freshmen Coach Chris Fehring. �Tera Dehner worked hard down low and communicated great with her teammates.�
The Tanagers fell behind 18-9 after the first quarter, trailed 22-13 after the second quarter, and then trailed 33-17 after the third quarter.
�We still need to work on a lot of things and execute them in games,� said Coach Fehring.
The VHS freshmen season mark fell to 0-2.
VHS freshmen hit 5 of 13 from the line while the Watchdogs hit 1 of 3 free throw tries.
