VHS cross-country teams place second at A-H invite

VHS cross-country teams place second at A-H invite Twelve schools participated in the Alcester-Hudson invitational cross-country meet, Monday, Sept. 18 with competition in both girls' and boys' varsity, and boys' JV divisions.

Points for the top seven teams in the boys' varsity division were: Lennox 20; Vermillion 21; Dakota Valley 51; West Central 58; Harrisburg 82; Parker 86; Alcester-Hudson 88. Incomplete teams competing were Bon Homme, Sioux Falls Christian, Canton, Beresford, and Elk Point/Jefferson. There were 50 entries in the division.

First runner across the finish line was Vermillion's Eric Dehner with a time of 15:46.56. Other Tanager finishers were: Darryl Neufield � fifth; Tyler Brown � sixth; Ben Parsons � 11th; Paul Timms � 16th; and Josh Kyte � 44th.

For the varsity girls, team points were: Lennox 20;Vermillion 20; Alcester-Hudson 52; Parker 57; Canton 90; Dakota Valley 94; EP/J 95; Beresford 100; incomplete teams were Sioux Falls Christian, Harrisburg, Bon Homme and West Central.

Michelle Rasmussen came in first with a 15:11.18 time. Tanager placers were: Angie Rydell � third; Beth Pier � 11th; Theresa Ring � 12th, Morgan Brooks � 14th; Katie Dehner � 30th; Sarah Plate � 33rd; Emily Pier � 36th; Carly Bernard 45th. There were 68 runners in the girls' section (no JV division).

In the boys' JV division there were 61 entries with no team points recorded. Dan Ring placed second behind Chris Christensen from Beresford. Other Tanager placers were: Tom Smith � 11th; Justin Manning � 12th; Wilber Lio � 19th; Mitch Bierle � 21st; Ben Williams � 23rd; and Danny Redlin � 28th.
