VHS girls tennis team loses return match at Yankton by Jim Prosser The Tanager girls' tennis team met the Yankton Gazelles in the return match on Thurs-day, Sept. 7 played at the Yankton sports complex. After the 5-4 win vs Madison on Monday, the Yankton results were reversed 4-5 for the Gazelles victory.
Varsity scores were: Singles: Kyna Williams (Y) def Maya Ristic 10-2; Lindsay Iverson (V) def Brittany Wilson 10-6; Abby Washburn (Y) def Tori Collins 10-3; Jessica Mathison (Y) def Catherine Odson 10-5; Lyndsay Wilcox (Y) def Justine Reimnitz 10-6; Jessica Leffers (V) def Jennifer Muller 10-7. Liz Hunhoff (Y) def Jenna Williams 8-3 in a JV match.
"The competition was more intense in the singles matches but our doubles teams played together better and salvaged two wins for the Tanagers," said Coach Barb Rickord.

Coach Rickord also gave special recognition to the "JV members who have been honing their skills in virtual obscurity!" she said. "Playing against Yankton were: Sarah Roetman, Savannah Day, and Lisa Doohen in addition to Williams and Thompson."
