Cross-country teams place first and second at region meet in Lennox Oct. 13 The Tanager boys' cross- country team scored 16 points to gain first place at the Region 3A meet at Lennox on Friday, Oct. 13.
The top runner with a clocking of 16:29 was Eric Dehner, who led the Vermillion High School boys' contingent in the 11-team 5,000 meter division.
Michelle Rasmussen ran a 15:23 to pace the Tanager girls to second place in their 11-team 4,000 meter division.
Other Tanagers placing in the top 20 of the boys' division were: Darryl Neufeld second, 16:48; Tyler Brown fifth, 17:28; Paul Tims 10th, 18:03; and Justin Manning 20th, 18:43.
Vermillion top 20 finishers in the girls' division were: Michelle Rasmussen second, 15:23; Angie Rydell third, 15:41; Morgan Brooks 11th, 16:17; Beth Pier 18th, 16:53; and Theresa Ring 19th, 16:54.
Lennox was first in the girls' division with a score of 26 to out-point the Tanagers' score of 32. The first runner across the finish line for the girls was Mary Bennett of Scotland with a 15:19 time.
The SDHAA cross-country meet will be conducted at Huron on Saturday, Oct. 21.
