Exchange vows Carla Ann Clauson and Michael George Stone were married on July 11 at Canaries Stadium in Sioux Falls. Parents of the couple are Kenneth and Sharon Clauson, Kathryn, ND, and James and Linda Stone, Vermillion. The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Jamie Desai.
Matron of honor was Steffanie Maiwald and best man was Al Millette. Bridesmaids were Cathy Marsh, Michelle Millette and Leslie Larson. Groomsmen were Ron Schwint, John Irish and Greg Slaven. Host couples were Clay and Susan Seachris and Ryan and Maari Hanson. Cake servers were Kelly, Brody and Mackenzie Stone. Pictures were taken by Russ Stone and the ceremony was video taped by Deiter Maiwald.
The ceremony took place at home plate in Canaries Stadium at 6:30 p.m. After the ceremony, the couple threw out the opening pitch to start the game between the Sioux Falls Canaries and the Fargo Redhawks. The reception was to have been held in the BBQ area of the stadium during the game, but due to the weather (a thunderstorm and tornado passed through) it was moved to the picnic area under the grandstand once the storm was over. It ended up being a beautiful evening and the couple was able to dance their first dance on top of the Canaries dugout under a beautiful double rainbow.
Mike and Carla stayed in Sioux Falls the next day for the double header between the Canaries and the Redhawks and then left on Thursday for Lake Poinsett for five days. The couple is making their home in Sioux Falls where Carla works for US Bank and Mike is a police officer for the city of Sioux Falls.
