Gun control debate author to speak at USD School of Law John Lott, Yale law professor and author of the groundbreaking book More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws, will be speaking in the USD School of Law Courtroom on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 2:30 p.m.
Lott will travel to Vermillion as the guest of the USD School of Law Federalist Society. All those interested are invited to attend this free event.
Lott is a senior research scholar at the Yale University Law School. Lott has held positions at the University of Chicago, Stanford, UCLA, Wharton, and Rice and was the chief economist at the United States Sentencing Commission during 1988 and 1989. Lott has published over 80 articles in academic journals. He is also the author of a book on antitrust policy titled Are Predatory Commitments Credible?: Who Should the Courts Believe? Both books are published by the University of Chicago Press.
He is currently completing another book on the importance of reputations in deterring criminals. Opinion pieces by Lott have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today and The Chicago Tribune.
He has appeared on television programs such as the ABC and NBC National Evening News broadcasts, The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, the Today Show, Hardball with Chris Matthews, The O'Reilly Report, CNN's Talkback Live, and the CBS Morning News.
