Huggett to perform at Shrine to Music Monica Huggett of London, widely recognized as "the leading Baroque violinist in Europe" (The Oxford Times), and Richard Savino, the renowned American guitarist, will open the Shrine to Music Museum's 2000-2001 Sunday afternoon concert series on Oct. 22 at 2:30 p.m.
The program, Virtuosi d'Italia, will feature Paganini's Grand Sonata, along with works by Boccherini, Corelli, Giuliani, and others
Huggett has had great success as a soloist and director of music ranging from Vivaldi concertos with Christopher Hogwood and the Academy of Ancient Music to the concertos of Mozart, Beethoven, and Mendelssohn with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightment, conducted by Charles Mackerras.
She is a founding member of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, and works extensively with L'Orchestre des Champs Elys�e in Paris.
Her recent recording with Richard Savino of virtuoso sonatas for violin and guitar has received widespread critical acclaim, according to Andr� P. Larson, director of the museum.
