Spooncat! will perform at annual Chili Blues Chili Blues is a Dakota Days tradition which combines the celebration of homecoming with a fun-filled chili competition, good music, and lots of fun for the entire family.
The celebration begins after the game on Oct. 14 at 5 p.m. at the Washington Street Arts Center, 202 Washington Street in Vermillion with outdoor ticket and beverage sales and the tunes of Ed Johnson and Michelle Martin � "Music for the Heart & Mind."
Serving begins at 6 p.m. with Spooncat! taking the stage at 7 p.m. Spooncat! is a "hot" nine-piece brass and vocal group headquartered in the Lennox/Sioux Falls area which is gaining regional reputation, satisfying music tastes from old favorites of Sly & the Family Stone, the Beatles, and Earth, Wind & Fire to original and contemporary jazz and blues.
Chili-meisters may enter through Oct. 9. Persons wishing to assist the committee with this year's events, to help with sponsorship, to obtain a chili-meister entry form, or wishing additional details are invited to call the arts center at 624-4342 or Carol Strandell at 624-3875.
Tickets are $9 adults/$6 children and $7/$5 for arts council members and are available in advance at The Coffee Shop Gallery and Nook 'n Cranny.
