Tanager tennis team loses 9-0 to Mitchell Playing the perfect host to the Mitchell Kernels girls' tennis team on Monday, Sept. 25, at the Vermillion High School court, the Tanagers lost 9-0 in a spirited competition.
"Mitchell is a strong team as we expected," said Coach Barb Rickord. "Their girls have a lot of varsity experience and were able to win the important points."
She added that at #4 singles, Catherine Odson had a good match.

Singles: Aubre Clemens (M) def. Maya Ristic (V) 10-6; Linda Deslauriers (M) def. Lindsay Iverson (V) 10-2; Mallory Meyers (M) def. Tori Collins 10-6; Laura Buche (M) def. Catherine Odson 10-6; Nina Vyas (M) def. Justine Reimnitz 10-0; and Kathryn Koehling (M) def. Elizabeth Slagle 10-2.
Doubles: Clemens/Deslauriers) def. Ristic/Iverson 10-5; Meyers/Buche (M) def. Collins/
Odson 10-3; Vyas/Koehling (M) def. Reimnitz/Slagle 10-5.
Coach Rickord also evaluated the JV players.
"Deana Russell lost to Melanie Lorenzen (M) 8-0 and Russell/Jessica Leffers lost their doubles match 8-0, but the JV team members are showing a lot of improvement," she said. "Britt Fremstad won her singles match. Also playing well for JVs were Lisa Doohen, Ashley Thompson, and Jenna Williams."
