Tree planting planned Oct. 28 Vermillion Beautiful, Inc. is calling on volunteers to help purchase and plant trees on the south side of Cherry Street, from High Street west to Carr Street.
Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. Oct. 28 at the intersection of High and Cherry Streets to plant 50 red oak and sugar maple trees as part of Make a Difference Day in Vermillion.
Judy Clark urges volunteers to bring shovels to help break ground for the tree planting. "If it rains, we will still be there, because that will be even a better time to plant the trees," she said.
Clark also is encouraging citizens to donate funds for the project, which is designed to create a memorial walk along the bike path south of Cherry Street.
The cost of purchasing, planting and mulching each tree is $75. Clark is urging people to consider buying a tree in memory of a family member or friend. She may be contacted at 624-9795.
