Civic Council donates rehabilitation equipment

Civic Council donates rehabilitation equipment The Vermillion Civic Council provided a gift of $2,250 to assist Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital and Care Center in the purchase of "Stand Aid" rehabilitation equipment.

The Stand Aid unit provides mechanical assistance to help patients to stand up safely and easily from a chair, wheelchair or bed.

This device assists patients who are paralyzed or have other significant limitations because of surgery or injury, to stand safely and obtain the medical and psychological benefits with weight bearing and being upright. In particular, the Stand Aid unit will help prevent further physiological complications associated with paralysis.

The availability of the Stand Aid equipment further strengthens the Sioux Valley Vermillion Medical Campus Rehabilitation Program. It can be used in maintenance exercise programs for residents in the care center and can help provide important and specifically designed therapy programs for patients recovering from surgery.

"We are very grateful to the Vermillion Civic Council for their gift to help us better serve the community," said John Paulson, CEO, Sioux Valley Vermillion Medical Campus. "We appreciate the financial support from the Civic Council as well as their continuing interest in making as much health care as possible available close to home for Vermillion area residents. Our ability to serve the community is greatly enhanced with charitable contributions like these from the Vermillion Civic Council."
