County Extension educators honored

County Extension educators honored Four individuals and a seven-member team were honored by the South Dakota Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (SDEAFCS).

Deb Sundem of Watertown received the distinguished service award.

Ingrid Lindberg of Rapid City received the continued excellence award.

Janet Dickerson of Madison was the educator of the year finalist.

Sundem, FCS educator for Codington County, received the DSA award for showing leadership and implementation of well-planned programs with results and accomplishments by a member of the association at least 10 years.

Lindberg, FCS educator for Pennington County, was recognized, for active involvement in personal professional improvement programs and in personal development of other by a previous recipient of the DSA award and as a member of the association for at least 12 years.

Dickerson, FCS educator for Lake County, was recognized as a professional FCS educator who is conducting outstanding educational programs that demonstrate impacts on families.

A team of county Extension educators from the South 2 field education unit won the Florence Hall Team Award for outstanding work in the Family and Consumer Sciences area.

Team members are Cheryl Jacobs of Elk Point, Sharon Guthmiller of Yankton, Lavonne Meyer of Parker, Martha Flamming of Tyndall, Tara Stubbe of Canton, Deanna Gall of Olivet, and Virginia Delvaux of Vermillion.

In addition, Connie Skinner, now of Mitchell, longtime county FCS educator at Belle Fourche, and before that Murdo, received the retired educator award.

The trio, the team, and the retiree were introduced and acknowledged Oct. 25 at an awards banquet as part of the S.D. Cooperative Extension Services Annual Conference in Brookings by their association president, Corrine Huber.

National recognition occurred at their national professional meeting in Baltimore a week earlier.
