Dalesburg Scandinavian Assn. will hold annual meeting Nov. 11 The Dalesburg Scandinavian Association will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 12 p.m., at Dalesburg Lutheran Church.
There will be a potluck luncheon at noon, followed by a business meeting. Please bring nominations for the Lucia Court.
At 1 p.m. there will be a program presented by Dr. Wayne Knutson of The University of South Dakota.
Knutson will speak about the once-ubiquitous country schools found in South Dakota and many other states. Knutson is a graduate of a country school in Roberts County. He is a former dean of the USD College of Fine Arts.
After years of service to the university, he has retired. His program will be enjoyed by those who wish to learn a bit about education in "the good old days" as well by those who attended such a school and wish to reminisce a bit.
If possible, please bring something (a picture, a book, artwork, a certificate, textbook or other memorabilia) from a country school.
This program is made possible by a Speakers Bureau grant from the South Dakota Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for The Humanities.
This event is sponsored by the Dalesburg Scandinavian Association.
Dalesburg Lutheran Church is located 12 miles north of Vermillion on University Road, or five and one-half miles west of Exit 38 on I-29.
