Jorgensen enters Luther Seminary

Jorgensen enters Luther Seminary Linda Jorgensen of Meckling, entered Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, in the master of divinity program this fall.

Jorgensen, a 22-year resident of Meckling, earned her bachelor of science degree in mathematic and chemistry from South Dakota State University (SDSU) in Brookings, in 1974 and her master's in guidance counseling from SDSU in 1977. She is a 1970 graduate of Webster High School in Webster.

In addition to her studies, Jorgensen is the owner and operator of Gifts Galore and the Meckling Post Office, both in Meckling. Her prior work includes serving as a teacher and school counselor at Gayville-Volin School. Her home congregation is Bergen Lutheran Church in rural Meckling.

As a candidate for the master of divinity degree, Jorgensen will study pastoral care, ethics, church history, theology and ministry. The program also includes a one-year internship and a three-month period of intensive pastoral care in a field setting. The four-year degree is required for ordination in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

Luther Seminary educates leaders for Christian communities across the country and around the world. It is the largest of the eight seminaries in the ELCA.
