Obituaries Thomas A. Brown
Thomas A. Brown, 50, of Meckling, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital following an auto accident.
He was born April 11, 1950 in Vermillion to Earl and Lillian (Delaney) Brown. He attended Vermillion schools, and married Jo Ellen Moore on Nov. 1, 1975 in Meckling. He currently worked for Clay-Union Electric in Vermillion, and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and the Vermillion Pheasant Association. He was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors include his wife: Jo Ellen of Meckling; a son: Justin Charles Brown of Vermillion; and a daughter: Taya Phyllis Brown of Meckling. He is also survived by a brother: Earl Brown Jr. of Vermillion; and three sisters: Carolyn Moore and Joyce Rydstrom of Vermillion, and Mary Lou Bouch of Burbank.
Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion.
Alpha Aust Holley Routson, 88, formerly of Beresford, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines, IA of cancer.
She was born Jan. 2, 1912, in Union County. She lived in Beresford, and from 1953 to 1998, she lived in Des Moines.
She was employed as a public schools secretary, and over the years also worked for J.C. Penney Company, Younkers and the Methodist Hospital.
She enjoyed growing plants and flowers, and her "green thumb" led her to work at the Botanical Center part-time.
Her survivors include four daughters: Betty Jensen and Joyce Daw, both of Beresford, Marilyn Johnson of Abilene, TX, and Marjorie Ploof of Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Hartley of Armstrong, IA, and Malvern of Fallon, NV.
Funeral services began at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 13 at Hamilton's
near Highland Memory Gardens, Des Moines, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa or Simpson United Methodist Church.
Richard (Dick) Fredrickson
Richard Fredrickson, 59, formerly of Centerville, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000 at his home in Sonoma, CA, from cancer.
He was born Oct. 1, 1941 to Floyd and Veronica Fredrickson, Centerville. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1959, The University of South Dakota Business School in 1963, and the Thunderbird International School of Management, Phoenix, AZ, in 1968.
He married Barbara Holland on July 2, 1966 in San Francisco. He worked for 17 years for the American International Group Insurance Brokerage in Bogota, Columbia, Houston, TX, Marietta, GA, Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic, and San Francisco, CA. Fredrickson was a vice president in the insurance firm of Marsh and McLennan for six years, and for the past five years, was a vice president for Aon Insurance Brokerage in San Francisco.
He is survived by his wife: Barbara; one daughter: Lisa (Duane) Wright and two grandchildren, Santa Rosa, CA; one son: Brett, Phoenix, AZ; and his mother: Veronica Fredrickson, Vermillion. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Fredrickson.
Services were Saturday, Nov. 11 at St. Francis of Solano Catholic Church in Sonoma, CA, with Duggan's Mission Chapel in charge of arrangements. Private interment was in Mountain Cemetery, Sonoma.
