USD one-act plays to open November 17 The University of South Dakota Department of Theatre will present an evening of student-directed one-act plays Nov. 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Arena Theatre of the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts.
The plays include Tough Choices for the New Century, a contemporary comedy of catastrophy by Jane Anderson, Here We Are, a 1920s romance by Dorothy Parker, Can Can, a post-World War II sentimental drama by Romulus Linney, A Dead Man's Apartment, an offbeat comedy with dimwitted and crude characters by Edward Allan Baker, and 'Dentity Crisis, a hilarious farce by the master of dramatic chaos Christopher Durang.
The plays are directed by Rodney Knock, Elizabeth Egan, Susie Gulbranson, Nick Hartje, and William Myers, respectively. The directors are all students in Theatre 451/731 – Advanced Directing.
Tickets for the one-act plays go on sale beginning Monday, Nov. 13. Tickets are $2 for the general public and $1 for USD students with ID. As seating is limited, reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 605-677-5400.
