VHS singers, musicians are successful at All-State

VHS singers, musicians are successful at All-State Ten members of the Vermillion Concert Choir and Symphonic Band participated in the 47th annual All-State Chorus and Orchestra Concert Saturday night, Nov. 11 at the Sioux Falls Arena.

They included Jon Hoadley, Heather Reeves, Mike Clark, Amanda Aga, Zach Holoch, Rebecca Gehm, Tim Goodman, Alexis Lang, Ben McBride and Adam Nelson, along with Kristin Iverson, choral director, and John Alpers, band director.

The All State Chorus was under the direction of Dr. Russell Robinson, a well-known composer and arranger from the University of Florida. The All-State Orchestra was conducted by Dr. J. Robert Hanson, former conductor of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, now trumpet instructor at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.

Aga was chosen as a featured soloist on a piece that Robinson wrote titled, Striving for the Future. She competed with 70 other singers for the solo. "What a great honor for Amanda to be chosen," Iverson said. "I am very proud of her."
