Coyote swimmers drop dual The University of South Dakota men's and women's swimming and diving teams lost dual meets to North Dakota Saturday afternoon.
The men's team received strong individual performances from Clint Eckhardt and Charles Scribner but fell 128-109. The women's team lost 169.5-62.5.
The men won six of the 13 events and had three second-place finishes.
Eckhardt won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:17.72) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:57.93). Scribner won the 200-yard butterfly (2:00.43), finished third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.50) and was a member of the first-place 400-yard freestyle relay (3:16.68) that also included Tyler Hartl, Eckhardt and Drew Fleek. Torey Melton captured the 400-yard individual medley (4:25.46), and David Nelson took first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.57).
The women's team won two events and placed second in three events.
Kari Kopecky won the 50-yard freestyle (25.08), and Sara Hamlet took first in 500-yard freestyle (5:21.44).
and second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:55.31). Sanami Fottral was second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:37.28). The 400-yard freestyle relay team was second (3:46.45).
