Jon Hoadley wins first place in VOD contest Jon Hoadley, a junior at Vermillion High School, was the first place winner of the Clay County Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Contest.
Jamie Skonhovd and Katrina Henriksen, both of Wakonda High School, won second and third place honors, respectively.
The theme for this year's Voice of Democracy contest was "What Price Freedom." Contestants wrote, then recorded their speeches on a cassette tape for the judges.
Hoadley, 17, is the son of Michael and Diane Hoadley of Vermillon.
