Letters An open letter to Vermillion community

Dear neighbors:

During this busy holiday season of giving and caring, won't you take a moment to consider making a donation, if you have not already done so, to United Way of Vermillion in support of the 17 community agencies that are to receive funding from the 2001 United Way Campaign which is currently underway.

Please take just a moment out of your schedule to think about the services to youth, seniors, and all those in between that are provided to our community by these agencies and then ask yourself if your life or the life of a friend, family member, or loved one has ever been touched by one of these service providers. If the life of someone you know has been blessed at any time along the way by the support and care of any one of these agencies, please say thank you by, in turn, supporting them.

Many of our United Way agencies are devoted to the care and support of our community's children who are, after all, the future of this community. The others provide services that many of us hope and pray we will never need. But, should we ever need them, they will be there for us thanks to your support and to the support of many others just like you.

The United Way agencies are: Big Friend, Little Friend; Clay County Child Protection Team; Clay County Rescue Association; Dakota Senior Meals; Friends of W.H. Over Museum; SESDAC, Inc.; Sioux Council Boy Scouts of America; Sioux Trails Girls Scout Council; Sioux Valley Vermillion Home Health/Visiting Nurses Association; Sioux Valley Vermillion Home Health/Hospice; South East Transit; Vermillion Area Arts Council; Vermillion Coalition Against Domestic Violence; Vermillion Food Pantry; Vermillion Red Cross Swimming Lessons; Vermillion Senior Citizens Center; and Vucurevich Children's Center (formerly Mathilda Geppert Childcare Center).

No donation is too small and every penny counts for the people of our community. Please send your donation to United Way of Vermillion, P.O. Box 216, Vermillion, SD 57069.

Thank you for taking this moment to consider the precious gift you can give to your community by supporting United Way of Vermillion and its agencies.
