Stange presides as ACUHO president Von Stange, USD director of Residential Life, has begun his term as the elected president of the Upper Midwest Region Association of College and University Housing Officers (ACUHO).
The University of South Dakota has been a member of the ACUHO for over 20 years and Stange is the first representative of USD to be elected president.
The ACUHO represents the housing operations of all of the public and private universities and colleges in the upper Midwest. There are eight states represented in the association that meets three times per year. Stange was elected president last year and recently assumed the responsibilities of the office.
"The primary focus of the organization this year is a self study," said Stange. "Our primary concern is to make sure the interests of all the represented schools are considered because we incorporate both large public universities and small private colleges."
Stange has been employed at USD since 1989 and has been the Director of Residential Life since 1994. He graduated from USD in 1983 with a bachelor of science degree in psychology.
