Clubs Vermillion Rotary Club

Dean Clark called the meeting to order for our regular luncheon at the Silver Dollar. Our guests today were Jill LeCates and Jack Marsh, as well as Vermillion High School seniors, Brett Hogen, Elliot Hasse, Alison Jensen, and Lana Johnson.

Our sergeant-at-arms took us through the usual dunning of the membership for stray dollars and then we moved on to the program. Except there wasn't a program today. Post holiday decompression, or something like that. So, in full patriotic voice we sang our final song a bit early and marched out into the icy slush of this fine January day.

Senior Citizens Center

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, 17 pitch, six pinochle and 12 bridge players spent an afternoon playing cards and socializing.

Bridge winners were Shirley Riehle, high and Leona Kryger, second.

Coffee break refreshments were served by Julia Cleland, Maxine Millette, Phyllis Prusa and Melvin Marcotte.

Southeast #12 Canton and LAPM

The Southeast #12 Canton and LAPM met Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. for its regular meeting. A joint installation was held before the meeting under the direction of Lady Alice Munsil, association president, with the help of General John Sealey as aide, Col. Robert Munsil as adjutant and Lady Marjorie Grass as chaplain.

Officers installed were: Captain � General John Sealey, President � Lady Linda Peters, Ensign Chev. � Ike Baisden, Vice President � Lady Barbara Baisden, Clerk � Col. Dick Youngkrantz and Secretary and Treasurer � Lady Agnes Sealey.

Appointive officers appointed were: Lady Kathy Lilly, Lady Bea Christopherson, Lady Marcene Nadenicek, Lady Alice Munsil, Lady Alice Scott, Chev. Darrel Christopherson and Col. Robert Munsil.

A new opening and closing was tried out by the Canton and LAPM. The regular meeting was then held under the direction of Captain John Sealey. There were several members reported being sick or in the hospital. The next meeting will be held on Feb. 14 with Robert and Alice Munsil serving lunch.

Vermillion Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodge

Vermillion Odd Fellows #3 and Vermillion Rebekah Lodge #28 held joint dinner installation on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. A supper of oyster stew, chili, sandwiches and cake were served to the members and guests. There were 44 in attendance.

The installation staff consisted of: Deputy President Alice Munsil, Deputy Warden Fern Morse, Deputy Marshalls Betty McCambridge and Robert Munsil, Deputy Secretary Ray Hoff, Deputy Treasurer Agnes Sealey and Deputy Chaplain Sandy Aakre. The tables were decorated by Pat Frazee.

Pat Frazee presented the outgoing Noble Grand with her Past Noble Grand Jewel and a gift from the officers.

Theta Omega Chapter of ESA #4699

Theta Omega Chapter of ESA met at the home of Sally Schmitz on Wednesday, Jan. 10. Sally and Joan Nelson presented the educational, "ESA By-Laws."

Michelle Mueller has designated Saturday, Feb. 10 for our trip to the Ronald McDonald House in Sioux Falls. Plans are to tour the facility and donate needed items.

Relay for Life is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the DakotaDome. Our chapter will be determining our relay team and signing up volunteers at the February meeting.

Shelly Koller proposed a new Easter Seals project to raise money for Easter Seals.

Linda Thaden routed a sign-up sheet for the Senior Citizens Dinner scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 25. Assistance is needed in clean-up, set-up, food preparation, and serving the dinner that evening.

Sally Schmitz has met with a delegate from other local ESA chapters regarding the Diana Award. The presentation is Sunday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. at the W.H. Over Museum. She routed a sign-up sheet for assistance on that day.

The orientation of pledges was scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 18 at Betty Johnson's residence. Joan Nelson will be in charge of this orientation.

The next meeting will be held Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the home of Lynne Day. Co-hostesses will be Dot O'Connor, Patty Rarick, and Becky Rider. The education will be "ESA Now & Then," presented by Dot, Shelly Koller and Pat Pravecek.
