Kirchmeyer receives nursing scholarship

Kirchmeyer receives nursing scholarship Sioux Valley Vermillion Care Center has awarded Josie Kirchmeyer the Marcella Flannery Scholarship for the year 2001. Kirchmeyer has worked as a certified nursing assistant since September 1998 and as a medication aide since December 1999. She has demonstrated dedication and commitment to the residents and families as well as pursuing her nursing degree at The University of South Dakota. Kirchmeyer will graduate with an associate degree in nursing in May 2001.

Marcella Flannery was a dedicated and loyal nurse and later a resident at the care center. Upon her death, a scholarship was given by her family to reward future nursing students that pursued nursing career with the dedication and loyalty that Flannery exemplified.

"Josie Kirchmeyer is a great representative of our many dedicated student employees who bring enthusiasm, compassion and energy to our health care services. We salute her and look forward to our future opportunities to have USD students working at our facility while they pursue their health care and other career education," said John Paulson, chief executive officer, Sioux Valley Vermillion Medical Campus.
