Tanager gymnasts earn second In rescheduling a make-up meet with the West Central gymnastics team, Vermillion High School hosted a triangular with Yankton-BonHomme last Thursday, Jan. 18, in the VHS gym.
This, being the last home meet for the current season, was designated "Parents' Night."
The opening ceremonies included introducing the visiting team members and the Tanagers' participants with their parents, who were presented with carnations.
Coach Mark Upward also made a special presentation to the senior gymnasts on the squad � Beth Pier, Tabitha Hubert and Natalie Tuetken.
A couple of highlights at the
meet were season-best scores in floor exercise by Amber Reisdorph (8.70) and vault by Meganne Hovden (8.25).
Final team scores were: Yankton � 133.00; Vermillion � 116.50; West Central � 104.55.

Hubert � 6.85 (sixth) beam; Carley Bernard � 4.15 beam; Sarah Gregg � 5.1 beam; Pier � 5.9 beam, 7.6 (eighth) floor exercise and 7.2 vault; Hovden � 6.4 bars, 7.45 floor exercise and 8.25 (second) vault; Tuetken � 6.6 bars; Brittney Gilkyson � 7.55 (sixth) bars, and 7.3 vault; Katie Connors � 7.25 bars, 6.0 beam, 7.55 floor exercise, 7.4 vault and 28.20 all-around; Sarah Christopherson � 7.35 (seventh) bars, 5.25 beam, 7.9 (sixth) floor exercise 7.7 (sixth) vault and 28.20 all-around; Reisdorph � 6.45 bars, 6.5 beam, 8.7 (third) floor exercise, 7.4 vault and 29.05 (sixth) all-around; Totals � 28.75 bars, 25.25 beam, 31.75 floor exercise, and 30.75 vault.
"We did extremely well last night," Coach Upward said. "We still struggled on beam, but we are getting better everytime out."
The junior varsity finished third with a 60.15 score. Tyra Upward placed second in the beam (5.35) and Krystal Clark was fourth in floor exercise (4.90), followed at fifth by Megan Epping (4.75) who also entered the all-around competition and placed third.
