Tanager JV lets the lead slip away by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers watched a fourth-quarter lead disappear and were defeated by the Lennox Orioles 57-47 in boys� junior varsity basketball Jan. 19 at Lennox after sinking under a 20-5 final-period deficit.
The Vermillion JV had led by five after the third quarter.
The Tanagers jumped in front 12-5 at the end of the first period, led 27-23 after the second quarter, and then held a lead of 42-37 after the third quarter.
The Vermillion JV saw its record fall to 3-2, while Lennox upped its mark to 5-1.
The Vermillion JV made 7 of 11 free throw attempts while the Orioles hit 14 of 22 free throw tries.
