Gymnasts place fourth at state; Christopherson makes all-tourney team The State A gymnastics meet was held at Rapid City Stevens High School last Saturday, Feb. 17, with the expected winner being the Madison Lady Bulldogs with a score of 139.135.
The Tanager gymnastics team placed fourth behind Britton and Milbank, scoring 124.7 points. With about 50 competitors in each event, representing 16 schools, the Vermillion girls made a valiant effort by attaining their best total score of the season.
Of the 19 routines presented, 17 were individual bests! An unfortunate circumstance (the flu) prevented junior Amber Reisdorph from competing and Sarah Gregg attended as an alternate. Eighth-grader Sarah Christopherson made the All-Tournament Team with her 10th place in all-around.

"It was an exciting state meet," said Coach Mark Upward. "I told the girls we could be in the hunt for second place, and we were, until the final rotation. I couldn't have been more pleased with our performance as a team. We were as close to perfect as we had been all year."
