Motorists on Cherry Street in Vermillion had to drive with care Wednesday morning as heavy snow began to fall in the region. By the end of the day, several inches of the light, fluffy stuff had fallen on the city, requiring Vermillion snowplow crews to launch a full-scale street clearing effort Thursday morning. Drivers had to dig out their scrapers and brushes Wednesday morning to clear windshields and windows of heavy coats of snow. Once they hit the streets, they found visibility to be limited, especially out in the country where winds were whipping up the light snow. Vermillion's schools remained open through the day, despite the steady snowfall.
