USD Dance Marathon to host radio marathon February 20 The University of South Dakota Dance Marathon Committee will host a live 12-hour radio marathon on Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Mix 106 KVHT 107.3 on your FM radio.
The radio marathon will raise awareness for the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) and Dance Marathon to be held March 16-17 at USD.
This year the Dance Marathon Committee is attempting to extend the marathon to include the entire Sioux Valley community.
"We are excited about the radio marathon because it is something we've never attempted before," said Jessi Huber, Dance Marathon overall chair. "We hope it will be a successful way to get more people involved with Dance Marathon."
Families involved with the CMN are invited to call in to the Mix 106 radio station in Yankton to tell their stories and offer support for the marathon. Randy Hammer, operations manager for Mix 106 will be hosting the radio marathon.
"MIX 106 is very pleased to be associated with this organization at USD." said Hammer. "There is a need for people to get involved here and have fun doing it. I encourage families as a whole to get involved."
Dance Marathon is a 24-hour fund raiser benefiting the CMN of South Dakota. This is the fourth annual Dance Marathon to be held at USD. Last year Dance Marathon raised over $15,000 for CMN, this year the goal is to raise $18,000. All of the money raised through Dance Marathon will stay in South Dakota and the Sioux Valley area.
Any community members interested in dancing may pick up applications at the following Vermillion locations: The Coyote Student Center in the Student Activities Center office, the Chamber of Commerce, Nook 'n Cranny, Dominos Pizza and the Mix 106 radio station offices in Vermillion and Yankton. Applications are also available at Pied Piper Flower Shop in Yankton.
