The singers, ages 7 through 14 and representing nine area communities, are divided into a Preparatory Choir and a Concert Choir. Choral director is Lea Ann Schramm, Margaret Lyons is associate choral director, and JoAnne Hamilton, Hartington, NE, is assistant choral director.
Accompanying the Preparatory Choir is Aaron Rames, a seventh-grade student at Yankton Middle School.
This year's YCC Concert Choir includes Molly O'Connor, daughter of Mike and Cheryl O'Connor, and Benjamin Rogge, son of Tom and Michelle Rogge Gannon, both of Vermillion.
The YCC is dedicated to providing participating children with life-enhancing artistic experiences through exposure to a full range of choral music styles, performance in varied settings, and immersion in the choral art, under the direction of professional teacher/musicians.
