Elizabeth Pier serves as page

Elizabeth Pier serves as page A Vermillion High School senior spent two weeks working with lawmakers at the 2001 South Dakota Legislature.

Elizabeth Pier, daughter of Steve and Joni Pier of Yankton and Julie Pier of Vermillion, served as a legislative page. Rep. Judy Clark, R-Vermillion, was her sponsor.

Pages assist lawmakers by running errands, answering telephones, delivering messages, and distributing legislative bills and journals.

Pier enjoyed her page experience.

"I enjoyed listening to their debates, especially the bits concerning young people," Pier said.

At Vermillion High School, Pier is involved in cross-country, gymnastics, track, Natural Helpers, dance team and National Honor Society.

After graduation, Pier plans to attend the University of Kansas and hopes to become a psychiatrist.
