Garden trellis quilt class set April 7 in Vermillion Beginning and intermediate quilters can make the "Garden Trellis" quilt at the Clay County Extension office April 7.
This original design by Vermillion quilting instructor Mary Waller features quick rotary cutter techniques and machine piecing and applique. An instruction book written by Waller accompanies the class.
Students may pre-register for the class by mail.
Waller's Garden Trellis quilt combines traditional and original quilt designs. Rotary-cut, strip-pieced panels resembling lattice, alternate with open background panels that can be left plain or machine-appliqued vines, flowers, leaves and butterflies. The quilt is finished with a garden maze or plain borders.
The class runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students provide fabric, sewing machine and basic sewing supplies and select the size quilt they wish to make. Sewing machines are available for class use; please reserve one in advance.
The $45 fee includes lunch and instruction book.
