High school artwork is on display at USD The University of South Dakota Art Galleries will host an exhibition of area high school art in the Main Gallery of the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts.
The show runs through March 30 and is open to the public between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays and from 1 to 5 p.m. weekends.
Twenty schools from South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa are participating in the exhibition which includes over 200 works of art. Paintings, drawings, prints, graphic designs, ceramics, and sculpture are presented, representing 163 students and several of their instructors.
According to USD Art Professor Jeff Freeman, who helped organize the exhibit, the art included clearly demonstrates the variety of area high school art programs. "Viewers will find some very exciting works in this show and evidence that there is a lot of fresh and innovative teaching taking place in the regions art programs," Freeman said.
