SDSU physics chapter honored Once again, the Society of Physics Students at South Dakota State University has been nationally recognized as an Outstanding Chapter by the American Institute of Physics.
Corey Halstad, Vermillion, was president of the SDSU chapter in 1999-2000.
Advisor and Physics Department Chair Oren Quist credits the designation to the numerous activities that the 10-member group is involved in. Examples include making presentations at high schools with other students from the College of Engineering, making nine professional presentations to local faculty, conducting "star parties," to allow area elementary students to view the night sky, and helping the annual high school Physics Bowl at SDSU.
