Softball team concludes Florida trip with 6-3 loss The University of South Dakota women's softball team has concluded its spring break trip with a 3-7 record.

South Dakota lost a pair of games on Saturday, March 10.

The Coyotes were defeated 15-0 by Lynn University and 6-3 by Lewis University as the Rebel Games conluded in Orlando, FL.

Lynn scored 15 runs in the first three innings in defeating the Coyotes.

Lewis opened a 6-1 lead after five innings and hung on to turn back South Dakota 6-3. Tiffany Davis hit her second home run of the spring and had two RBI against Lewis.

The South Dakota softball team could not generate any offense and fell to Lake Superior State on Thursday evening, March 8 at the Rebel Games. South Dakota pitcher Janice Alswager suffered the loss as she fell to 2-2 on the season. Julie MacRunnels had one hit and Davis had a hit and two walks for the Coyotes.

The South Dakota softball team gave up five runs in the eighth inning and dropped a tough, 6-5 decision to Saint Joseph's (IN) on March 8 at the Rebel Games.

South Dakota relief pitcher Sara Medved allowed three runs and three hits in two-thirds of an inning.

The Coyotes' bats were silent as South Dakota lost to Concordia (MN), 2-1, in a pitching duel on March 7 in Orlando. Paige Dopp of Concordia limited the Coyotes to one run on three hits in gaining the win.

Despite taking her second loss in three games, Tiffany Hill pitched a strong game, allowing only two hits in six innings. She allowed just two unearned runs and had three strikeouts with just one walk.

Kara Bolte had a double and Davis had a single and a run scored. South Dakota had three costly errors.

Lindsey Williams threw a four-hit shutout to lead Shippensburg (PA) to a 2-0 win over South Dakota at the Rebel Games in Orlando on March 6.

For South Dakota, Hill started and suffered the loss. She worked three innings, allowing two runs, one earned run, five hits, and she had one strikeout. Alswager also pitched for the Coyotes, recording three innings of two-hit, shutout relief pitching.

The only offensive highlights for the Coyotes came off the bat of Tiffany Hopkins, who had a triple and a double in three trips to the plate.

The Coyotes played Briar Cliff on March 14 and Winona State on March 16 at the DakotaDome. The Coyotes will host the DakotaDome Classic on March 17-18.
