Sprayer tune-up clinic slated A sprayer tune-up clinic for farmers in southeast South Dakota is set for Wednesday, March 28, from 1 to 4:30 p.m., at the Southeast Research Farm, Beresford.
Free to all attendants, the sprayer tune-up clinic will provide information on how to increase the effectiveness of pesticides by increasing the efficiency of spray equipment, according to Steve Sutera, Extension educator from Bon Homme County.
General topics will include sprayer setup and maintenance, regulatory issues, sprayer calibration concepts, drift management strategies, and hands-on calibration. GPS equipment for pesticide applications will also be discussed.
Part one of the program will be classroom instruction. Part two will emphasize hands-on training, working with actual spray equipment. Each participant will receive a sprayer tune-up kit that includes calibration tools, safety equipment, and reference materials.
The clinic is a cooperative effort of the South Dakota State University Extension Service and the SD Department of Agriculture. For more information, contact the Clay County Extension Office at 677-7111.
