Students recognized for March honors Tim Russell and Leslie Larson were recently recognized for their academic and extra-curricular achievements as Vermillion High School's Students of the Month for March. They will receive a $100 scholarship from First National Bank in Vermillion for their college education.
Russell's faculty endorsement noted that "Tim is a leader among his peers both in the classroom and on the athletic field." His activities include the National Honor Society, chorus, track, football, Young Republicans, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and basketball. He also has been an elementary school tutor and he was a SD Boys State delegate.
His college plans are to attend Brown University to study pre-medicine. His parents are Jack and Mickey Russell.
Larson has been able to balance her variety of activities with an excellent academic standing. SHe has been participating in basketball, Student Council, track, FCA, band, National Honor Society and volleyball.
Her years of participation in 4-H have led Larson to serve for a multitude of community organizations. She plans to attend Dana College in Blair, NE. Her parents are LeRoy and Marlys Larson.
