USD student found dead at home as result of suicide by M. Jill Karolevitz The Vermillion Police Department received information at 2 p.m. Feb. 28 regarding the death of a University of South Dakota student at Winslow Apartments on Ratingen Street.
Sukraat Minhas, 22, Vermillion, was found by a roommate and the apartment manager. His death was caused by asphyxiation by hanging, said Vermillion Police Chief Bruce Plate.
Minhas, a native of Chanrigarh, India, had attended Huron University prior to enrolling at USD last August. He was a computer science major.
�There was no note,� Plate said. �As with any death by suicide, it�s very tragic. He apparently had close friends and a girlfriend, whose family was very supportive of him.�
Funeral services were held March 8 at the Hudson Funeral Home, Durham, NC. A private visitation was held March 1 at Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion.
