Veal, Gisi elected as Student Association president and veep Jason Veal of Bison and Bruce Gisi of Bowdle were recently elected by The University of South Dakota student body as president and vice president of the Student Association (SA) to serve for the 2001-02 academic year.
"We are looking forward to using our leadership skills to change the face of the SA," said Veal. "Our biggest hope is to lead the SA into becoming a stronger organization so that more students may utilize what we have to offer. Thanks to our membership and leadership in various organizations and thanks to the assistance of the outgoing president and vice president, we feel we can begin to cultivate the talents and energy of all the Senators and make this an even more vital organization."
Veal, son of Greg and Marsha Veal of Bison and grandson of Lyle and Gloria Davis of Clark, is a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He is majoring in psychology. Among the various activities he is involved in at USD are the Program Council and the Student Publications Board. Veal is president of the Guidon Honor Society. He has volunteered for SERVE, Adopt-A-Grandparent Program and served as a resident assistant.
Gisi, son of Berkeley ("Rocky") and Helen Gisi, is also a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He is involved in the USD Program Council and is the vice president of the Guidon Honor Society. Gisi was the morale captain for the Dance Marathon, an orientation team leader and a resident assistant. He was also involved in Mock Trial and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.
