Workshop focuses on historical preservation of area properties The Clay County Historical Preservation Commission has scheduled a two-part workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. on March 19 in the Vermillion Public Library Community Room.
The first topic of the workshop will inform Clay County property owners of the requirements for listing their property on the National Register of Historic Places. The entire process, from preliminary forms to the final National Register paperwork will be covered.
The second part of the workshop will discuss the federal tax credit for historical properties and South Dakota's state property tax moratorium for historical structures.
Citizens residing anywhere within the city of Vermillion or within Clay County, are encouraged to attend and learn about the requirements and incentives for preserving their historical properties. For additional information contact the Austin-Whittemore House at 624-8266.
