Girls' golf 2001 improves with victory The Tanager girls' golf team match against Madison on Monday, April 9 was a dominant scoring victory for both the varsity and JVs.
Coach Kirk Hogen was pleasantly pleased with the performance of his young charges as every member made a contribution to the final result.
"It's nice to have support from some of the younger golfers," he said.
The Vermillion varsity team results were: Vermillion 183; Madison 208.
Medalist was Karrie Plate with a 41. Other scores were: Allison Stewart � 43, Brooke Nelson � 47, Ashley Bjorkman � 52, Tabitha Hubert � 54, and Jackie Thomas � 57.
The JV's medalist was Drew Van Kley with 48 as the final totals were: VHS/JV 210, MHS/JV 253.
Other scorers for the young Tanagers were: Kaylie Heesch � 53, Megan Deaver � 54, Meggie Donnelly � 55, Nicole Veitz � 56, Megan Bedard � 86, and Dani Weydert � 89.
The weather was great for golf! � 65 degrees, negligible wind, bright sun.
"We finally caught a break with the weather and the girls responded favorably," Hogen said.
