Girls' track team places second at Canton Relays The Tanager girls' track team scored 122 points to place second at the Canton Relays Invitational last Tuesday, April 10.
Vermillion scorers in field events were:
Sarah Mollet placed first in the shot put with a toss of 38' 3", and Nicole Pederson scored first place in the triple jump with a total distance of 33' 9". Annie Carlson and Jaclyn Powell were third and fourth, respectively, in the triple jump.
The other field events found the two Tanagers placing in the high jump � Powell first and Carlson fifth. Placing fourth and fifth in the long jump were Carlson and Powell, in that order.
Salina Dunkeson placed sixth in the 100m hurdles and fourth in the 300m hurdles. Brooke Johnson finished fifth in the 300m hurdles. In the 100m dash, Elly Kjose and Nicki Nelson placed second and third, in that order, and Pederson placed third in the 200m dash, while Morgan Brooks was second in the 400m dash.
In the 800m run, Brittney Gilkyson placed second, and Beth Pier was fifth. The 1600m run had Natalie Tuetken in fourth place and Angela Rydell in fifth. Finishing fifth and sixth in the 3200m run were Megan Griffith and Emily Pier.
In the relays, third place was scored in the 4x100m with members Pederson, Nelson, Carly Bernard and Kjose. The 4x200m relay team was third with members Pederson, Nelson, Bernard and Kjose. The 4x800m relay team came in second. Team members were Brooks, Tessa Tuetken, Beth Pier and Michelle Rasmussen.
There were eight schools represented at the meet.
