March of Dimes WalkAmerica scheduled Saturday morning The March of Dimes WalkAmerica 2001 will be held Saturday, April 21 in Vermillion.
Ten teams of walkers will gather at the starting point near the Prentis Park band shell by 9:30 a.m. for check-in and registration. The walk will begin at 10 a.m. from the park on a route that includes Main Street, Crawford Road, Crestview Drive, Canby Street and Linden Avenue back to Main Street, with the finish at Prentis Park.
Coffee from Barista's Brew, orange juice from Burger King and donuts from Jones' Food Center will be served before the walk starts.
Pizza and pop will be served at the finish line, and teams will be entertained with balloons, face painting and music from the Vermillion High School Dixie Band.
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality.
Local sponsors of the event are Wells Fargo, Jones' Food Center, First Dakota Nataional Bank, Domino's, Coca-Cola, Barista's Brew, Aramark, the City of Vermillion, the Vermillion Police Department and KVHT.
