Scholarships available through Sprint/NCSL Applications are available for $2,500 scholarships to students entering graduate study for the first time in the fall of 2001, according to Rep. Judy Clark.
Four scholarships will be awarded to students, female or male, pursuing an advanced degree in political science, public administration, public policy, law or a related field. Sprint Corporation, in coordination with the Women's Network of the National Conference of State Legislators, will provide the scholarship funds.
"The Sprint/NCSL Women's Network scholarships are a way to help students at the graduate level, and to reaffirm that public service is essential and valuable," said Rep. Clark. "I truly appreciate Sprint Corporation's active support and efforts on behalf of more effective government."
The scholarships are based on several factors, including scholastic achievements, written essays, community/school activities and letters of recommendation. Applications are due by June 29, and are available from Rep. Clark at 605-624-9795 or Sprint at 1-800-796-3464.
Rep. Clark is a member of the National Conference of State Legislature's Women's Network, which is coordinating the scholarship award with Sprint. She represents Clay and Turner counties and serves on the Appropriations Committee.
