VHS boys' tennis team falls to Brandon Valley The Tanager boys' tennis team continues to face the top teams in the high school ranks and suffers some agonizing defeats but still "hangs in there" and makes progress in their overall play.

The latest competition was against the visiting Brandon Valley Lynx as the matches were played at the Vermillion High School courts on Monday, April 9.

Team Scores: Brandon Valley 7; VHS 2.

Singles: Jason Holoch (V) lost 10-3; Chris Yutrzenka (V) won 10-3; Nathan Scheidel (V) lost 10-8; Steve Foltz (V) lost 10-1; Tim Goodman (V) lost 10-4; and Mark Vickrey (V) lost 10-1.

Doubles: Holoch/Scheidel won 10-8; Yutrzenka/Foltz lost 10-0; and Goodman/Vickrey lost 10-1.

JV singles: Jack Higgins (V) won 10-4 and Dan Day won 11-10.

Tanager coach Nick Hovden, pointed to the play of the #2 seed.

"Chris Yutrzenka played an excellent singles match," he said. "Also, Scheidel played well in both his singles and doubles matches."

In addition to the eight players above, other members of the VHS tennis squad are: Anish and Harsh Patel, Ben Schimelefening, Keslar Arysnamy and Anthony Rath.
