VHS girls finish second at Lennox Invitational Seven schools were represented at the Lennox Invitational last Thursday, April 12.
The Tanager girls' track team scored 136 points to place second behind Big 8 Conference foe Lennox.
Vermillion scorers in field events were:
Sarah Mollet placed second in the shot put with a toss of 37' 1", which qualified her for state, and Annie Carlson scored second place in the long jump and in the triple jump.
Nicole Pederson won the triple jump with a distance of 33' 7.75". Placing fourth in both the long jump and triple jump was Jaclyn Powell, who also was second in the high jump and Carlson placed third.
Lindsay Dunkeson placed seventh in the 100m hurdles and second in the 300m hurdles, and Brooke Johnson was third.
Results in the dashes were: 100m � second (tie), Emily Kjose (who qualified for state in 13.1 seconds); 200m � fifth, Carlson; 400m � sixth, Heather Heine.
In the long distance runs, Brittney Gilkyson placed second in the 800m and Beth Pier claimed sixth in the 1600m.
In the relays, second place was scored in the 4x100m with members Pederson, Nicki Nelson, Kjose, and Carly Bernard. The 4x200m relay team was second (Pederson, Nelson, Bernard and Jenna Gilkyson). The 4x400m relay team (Brittney Gilkyson, Morgan Brooks, Kayla Nelson and Michelle Rasmussen) came in second, and fifth place was garnered in the 4x800m by the team of Angie Rydell, Theresa Ring, Brooks, and Rasmussen.
The medley team with Pederson, Nelson, Brooks and Rasmussen won the race in 4:42.7 minutes.
