Anne Carlson garners four first-place medals The middle school version of the Big 8 Conference track meet was held Monday, May 14 at Lennox and involved seventh- and eighth-grade girls representing Lennox, Madison, and Vermillion.
No team points were reported so here are the individual results for the seventh graders:
In field events; Long jump � Carrie Christensen, first (14'2"), Megan Epping, third; high jump � Michelle Olson, third.
In the dashes: 100M � Chrystal Coakley, first (13.8), Epping, third; 200M � Coakley, second, Meghan Phillips, fourth; 400M � Nicole Orr, first (1:11.9), Heather Walker, third; 100M hurdles � Olson, third.
Long distance runs: 800M � Walker, first (3:08.8), Patricia Merrigan second; 1600M � Katie Dehner, first (6:51.2).
The 4×200 relay team placed fourth, with members Jaydee Hofer, Orr, Mollet and Coakley. First place, timed at 1:00.9, went to the 4×100 relay team of Epping, Hofer, Mollet and Coakley, while the 4x400M relay team of Ali Christensen, Orr, Merrigan and Walker won with a time of 4:53.8.
The eighth-grade girls' results follow:
Field events: Shot put � Jaque Smidt, fourth; long jump � Anne Carlson, first (15'), Melissa Olson, third; high jump � Carlson, first, 4'6"; triple jump � Carlson, first, 32'6.5".
In the dashes: 100M � Ali Christensen, third, Ellen Odson, fourth; 200M � Morgan Brooks, first, (29.22), Kos, fourth; 400M � Brooks, first (1:09.89); 100M hurdles � Brittney Weydert, first (17.9), Sarah Christopherson, third.
In the distance races: 1600M run � Jaime Bernard, first (6:51.45), Sarah Plate, fourth.
The Redbirds entered two 4×100 relay teams and they placed third with runners Alisha O'Connor, Tosia Job, Christopherson and Christensen, and fourth with members Kos, Erin Austin, Melissa Olson and Ellen Odson. The 4x200M team of O'Connor, Christensen, Austin and Carlson was first in 2:04.3; and the 4x400M team placed second, (Weydert, Mara Johnson, Kelsie Austin and Morgan Brooks).
