ASCA honors Ron Allen Ron Allen, the men's and women's swimming and diving coach at The University of South Dakota, has received a certificate of excellence from the American Swimming Coaches Association.
Allen was honored for his work with the women's swimming team and received a certificate based on "Outstanding Coaching Achievement in the United States of America."
Allen, who has just completed his 10th season as head coach of the swimming and diving teams at USD, continues to develop a program that has become a force in the North Central Conference and across NCAA Division II. Since Allen's arrival, the men's team has been in the top-10 in the nation seven times, twice finished fifth, and two years ago, the Coyotes were third in the nation. This past season the men's team placed second in the NCC while the women's team was fifth.
While at USD, Allen has coached 49 NCC champions and 49 NCAA all-Americans. He believes the success of the teams is due to diligent recruiting, and a very scientific approach to both the physical and psychological aspects of swim training.
