Dave Holoch finishes NSU baseball season Northern State University sophomore pitcher and Vermillion native Dave Holoch finished his second season with the Northern Stae University Wolves' baseball program earlier this month.
Holoch made seven relief appearances for the Wolves, logging 8 2/3 innings on the season. He tallied nine strikeouts. Holoch's younger brother, Eric, was a redshirt freshman on the team this season for NSU.
Off the field, Holoch is an education major with a coaching minor.
Holoch was a 1998 South Dakota All-Star and three-sport athlete while attending Vermillion High School, competing in baseball, football and basketball. He helped the school's football program to two district championships and one 11A state title. Holoch also went 20-5 on the mound for his American Legion team and batted .438 during his American Legion career.
Northern finished the season with a 7-29 overall record and went 1-9 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. Weather played havoc on the Wolves' home schedule, and despite shoveling snow from the outfield in April, the Wolves were able to host just three doubleheaders on the year. Their final scheduled homestead, a doubleheader vs. league champion Winona State April 6, was rained out.
Holoch is the son of Allen and Jane Holoch.
