Final students of the month selected Kristi Rath and Laura Wilson were selected as the April Students of the Month at Vermillion High School.
These seniors were nominated by VHS faculty for their active and successful high school careers. They will receive a $100 scholarship from First National Bank in Vermillion.
Rath was involved with EARTH Club, National Honor Society, chorus, National Forensic League, band, Art Club, drama, oral interp, German Club, and Natural Helpers. Additionally, she received the Outstanding Performance Award at the Region One-Acts.
Her parents are Corinne and Michael Rath, and she plans to attend the University of Minnesota this fall.
Wilson, too, has a long list of activities, including oral interp, dance team, Student Council, National Honor Society, EARTH Club, Young Democrats, one-act play, Quiz Bowl, swing choir, band, choir, and volleyball. She was also a University of South Dakota Ambassador of Excellence.
She has narrowed her college selections down to Hamline University, the University of Minnesota-Morris, or the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she plans to study international relations and English. Her parents are Jerry and Norma Wilson.
Other students nominated throughout the year were Chris Lynch, Lana Johnson, Beth Pier, Amber Blue, Chelsea King, Jennifer Balleweg, Patrick Brooks, Dan Tolsma and Adam Brooks.
Those receiving the VHS Student of the Month award earlier in the school year were Chris Yutrzenka and Anne Salazar � September, Natalie Tuetken and Tim Brodersen � October, Anthony Senne and Jennifer Frye ��November, Joslyn Reimnitz and Kevin Mayer � December, Tim Goodman and Jaclyn Powell � January, Kirsten Korte and Shane Manning � February, and Tim Russell and Leslie Larson � March.
